Garry & Hiromi – They met at a boutique dating site run by a Japanese lady who lived in Brisbane
Gary was introduced to OzMatch by his former work mate, Tom.
OzMatch is a boutique style international matchmaking agency run by a Japanese woman, Misao. She organises an Online Speed Dating Event on the second Saturday evening of each month.
It was in September and that was just a few days before the OzMatch Online Speed Dating Event. Garry didn’t know much about OzMatch but decided to join the Online Speed Dating Event and he met Hiromi there. They matched.
OzMatch organised an OMIAI ( a Japanese traditional first date ) for Garry and Hiromi in late October. They clicked early on and very soon entered an exclusive relationship. It took only 4 months for them to make a commitment to each other. They announced that they had completed their journey with OzMatch on February 14th, Valentine Day.

“I wasn’t expecting anything special”
“I was not expecting anything special when I met some work colleagues for lunch. In fact it was not until we had finished lunch that one of my former work mates, Tom, told me about a boutique dating site run by a Japanese lady who lived in Brisbane.
Apparently there was going to be an online speed dating event where all of the ladies were keen to meet Australian men with a view to marriage. I thought that going to this event would be fun. I didn’t take it seriously so I said yes. Besides it was free for new members!”

Soon after, Misao-san (the organiser) contacted me to say that one of the ladies called Francesca wanted to meet me. On top of that Francesca sent me a video where she introduced herself to me again. Wow, I thought, was this lovely lady really interested in meeting me? I ummed and ahhed and thought, maybe this could lead to something special, especially as she had gone to so much trouble. “
“Her name is Hiromi and we gradually fall in love”
“I decided to take a punt and agreed to an OMIAI. When I spoke to her again on zoom, I learned that her name was Hiromi, a winner of a beauty contest in Japan
and I thought she was a kind and sincere Japanese lady. It was then that I realised that this could be something that may change my life forever.
Since then Hiromi and I have met online several times a week for the past year.
We have grown to understand each other, be patient with one another, smooth over all misunderstandings, and gradually fall in love. “
“Soon we will begin our life together, perhaps for ever”
Not being together (due to covid) has been difficult but after knowing each other for so long now, we are both very comfortable when we have video chats.
Soon I shall meet Hiromi in person. We are both looking forward to developing our relationship even more. We have both made the most of our time apart and soon we will begin our life together, perhaps forever. “
