I launched OZMATCH, a licensed international introduction agency based in QLD Australia, supporting single men and single Japanese women to find their partner four years ago in November 2019.
That year, we had zero couples.
The total number of members in OZMATCH was in single digits, so it is not surprising that no couples were born in the first year of OZMATCH.
In the second year, 2020, the coronavirus spread around the world and borders were closed one by one, so it was no longer possible to travel to another country. This is the year when male members of OZMATCH started to give up on meeting Japanese women and Japanese women started to give up on meeting men in Australia.
The total number of members in OZMATCH increased slightly over the previous year, but due to COVID, only one couple completed their journey with OZMATCH.
In the third year, 2021, the borders remained closed, but the number of OzMatch members began to grow steadily and couples were born one after another, going from blind dates to tentative relationships.
However, as the couples were unable to meet in person, they were not sure about whether he/she was the right person to marry, and they remained in a long-distance relationship for more than a year.
In the fourth year, 2022, border controls began to loosen and it became possible to enter Australia from Japan. This meant that OZMATCH’s Japanese female members could come to Australia and meet their long-distance partners in person to see how they felt about each other.
Couples who have confirmed their feelings for each other have reported to us that they completed their journey with OZMATCH, one after another. In particular, in October 2022, when it became possible to travel from Australia to Japan, three couples reported to us that they completed their journey with OZMATCH. It means three couples have found their partner and ready to marry.

I’ve just booked a flight to Osaka and am already excited!!!
I’ve told Nico the main reason I want to go to Japan is to meet her parents as I believe it’s important if she moves to Australia next year. If I were a father, I’d hate to have a daughter move to another country with a guy I’d never even met.
I was only saying to her the other night that I can’t believe I held onto Misao’s business card that my friend gave me so many years ago. I joined OZMATCH this year and found who I believe is the person I have waited my life to meet.
Nico and I have been fantastic together and have decided that we are meant for each other. A very big, big thankyou to Misao and OZMATCH for our introduction.
I can’t describe how happy I am and I’ve had nothing but a smile on my face since our OMIAI ( first date).

Hana and I have spent a few days together now. And every day was a special day for us. We had lots of magical feelings and it was like a miracle.
We made a cake together to commemorate our 1-year anniversary since our OMIAI. It was exactly this day last year that we met for the first time! We had a celebration.
Hana and I have been discussing, and now both of us feel we are certain about each other. We know for sure that we will be with each other for life. We are ready to complete the journey.

Meeting and developing relationships with Japanese women is much easier and quicker than last year
This month, right now, our four executive male members are visiting Japan to meet their Japanese girlfriend/partner. Some are meeting their Japanese partner’s family and friends.
Every day we receive messages from them reporting back, and all of them sound really happy.
