This week we have received many happy reports from OZMATCH couples.
TOM & AYAKA are going to Marry
Tom, one of the OZMATCH support team, arrived in Japan yesterday to marry Ayaka, one of the OZMATCH support team. They are former OZMATCH executive members and met at OZMATCH.
Just before he left he asked me, “Misao, can you translate this English into Japanese? I want to propose to Ayaka in Japanese”. What a sweet request! I immediately changed it to Japanese and gave it to him. I hope his proposal will go very well.
Wei is going to have his Japanese girlfriend from Japan tomorrow!
One of our Japanese female members will fly to Australia TODAY to meet her boyfriend/partner. They will have the most wonderful holiday together here in Australia.
He sent me a message yesterday and said:
“We are both excited because we have longed for a meeting for months! It is going to be special for the two of us.”
Rob and Moe are going to Marry next month!
One of our Japanese female members will fly to Australia in 3 weeks to marry one of our male members. He met her in August and they both have been 100% sure of their future together since then.
This is his story.
I knew I had found the right person for me
I tried the online/app dating scene with limited success. I work from home most of the time now so the opportunities for meeting people are quite limited. The days of meeting new people at work or when travelling to or from work are over. So I had pretty much given up. Around this time my daughter was studying Japanese so I started learning with her as a way we could spend time together. Then I came across Misao’s matching service and thought I would try the free trial. I was not very active in my search until I finally met Misao in person. She explained the process and I finally decided to put some effort in and set up my profile. Then things started to move a lot faster. Misao is quite efficient and I was soon attending speed dating events and meetings (OMIAI) arranged by Misao . But I knew I had found the right person for me after our first meeting. I was reluctant at first to try a long distance relationship, especially during all the COVID travel restrictions, as at that time I couldn’t even travel to Sydney. But I persisted as nothing worth doing is ever easy. So from little things big things grow. We started texting online, then video calls every few days, then met in person. Now we video call daily and are making wedding plans. Thanks Misao, you have brought two families together and have changed our lives for the better.
James and Nico have completed their journey with OZMATCH
We got another happy report from a couple a few days ago.
They met at an OMIAI session at the end of April, then she flew to Australia in August and spent 4 weeks with him.
Those 4 weeks made them 100% sure of their future together and they reported to us that they completed their journey with OZMATCH.
He said “We have been fantastic together and have decided that we are meant for each other. We’ve decided that the search is over. A very big big thankyou to you for our introduction. I can’t describe how happy I am.”

My husband and I had a lovely lunch with Brisbane-based OZMATCH members last weekend. It was lovely to see our successful couples.
During lunch, one of the couples told me this. ( She told me what he told her)
“If I had known it would take me over a year to actually meet someone in real life, I wouldn’t have signed up to OZMATCH.”
Well, I would say the same thing if I were him. I don’t think I could continue a relationship without seeing him for more than a year.
But many of our successful couples did it and went through the COVID period together. They are amazing.
Since shortly before the freedom to travel between Japan and Australia, the time taken to arrange an OMIAI (first date), trial relationship, serious relationship and marriage has dropped to less than a quarter of the time taken in the COVID era.
They decided to enter an exclusive relationship 4 days later of the OMIAI (first date)
Last week we organised several OMIAI (first meetings) and one of the OMIAI couples reported to us that they entered into an exclusive relationship within 4 days of the OMIAI.
4 days could be enough for some people to be sure that she/he is the one.
They have planned to meet in Japan in December.
They are going to meet 2 weeks after of the OMIAI (first date)
We organise an OMIAI for another couple two weeks ago. He is outside of Australia and she is in Japan.
They are going to meet this week in Singapore while he is attending a conference there or he will drop by to Japan on his way back home.
I think they are ready to enter an exclusive relationship. It only took 2 weeks for them.
