A few weeks ago, one of our Japanese female members sent me a long email to ask me for help. Her father is very ill and she was told he had very little time to live.

She is a very talented and intelligent Japanese woman whose name is well known in the local community. She has lived her life solely through work, and marriage has been an afterthought.

Now she deeply regrets that she should have married and shown her father how happy she is. She sounds very mentally unwell and is not the woman I knew.

It is not OZMATCH’s job to support her as she nurses her father, but I am helping her to get through this difficult time.

Am I happy with what I am doing?

Yes, I am. But sometimes I mix my responsibilities and their responsibilities and that makes me feel heavy.

Then do I want to leave my role?

No, I don’t. Because new happy couples are born every month and their happiness increases the happiness of the world and I feel that I am part of making that happen.
