OZMATCH use the traditional Japanese introduction system known as OMIAI.
OMIAI means ‘see-meeting.It is a traditional practise where men and women are introduced to each other by family members or a leader in the community who act as mediators. The potential couple would meet, see whether they were compatible and if they were, after a period of time, would be married.
Throughout Japanese history, OMIAI was quite a formal affair but in modern times it is organised by introduction agencies. In Japan, every weekend, hundreds of OMIAI meetings take place.
The benefit of the OMIAI system especially in relation to international matchmaking is that they smooth out any misunderstandings due to language or cultural differences and are always there to guide and answer questions. You don’t have to do it alone.
